Confessions of a Single Celibate Man Book Excerpts
Excerpt One:
God, I want to thank you that your mercies are new everyday.
Some may be shocked when they discover what I’m about to say.
I told my baby brother and he was surprised the most. He looked at me crazy like he saw a ghost.
I’m getting ridiculed from other family members and friends
Even my father says, “Awe, Daddy got a little virgin.”
Men don’t believe me and most women think I’m kidding.
But why would I lie about voluntary celibacy?
I always gave you 90, here’s the remaining 10 percent.
Forgive me, Father, for my selective obedience.
Excerpt Two:
I have caught so many garter belts and I still haven’t met you yet.
I think about you when I laugh, I think about you when I sweat.
I’ve been praying for you and I don’t even know you, Hoping God will make life a little easier for you to go through.
I won’t understand why I’m single until I say to you, “I do.”
You went from a desire of mine to right behind God. He’s number one, and you’re number two.
Excerpt Three:
Father, now that I’m single, break me and fix me to be the man You created me to be.
So I can be ready for this yearning which You have already given me.
I trust You, Father. I think when it’s time we’re both going to cry.
I’ll wait as long as You want, as long as we love each other for the rest of our lives.
Excerpt Four:
Trouble, I despise you.
I don’t think you know what you really do.
I’m in right standing with God, so I know you won’t last always.
I start to get rid of you as soon as I kneel down to pray.
You happen for me not to me.
You are matched up against a mighty man of God who trusts and believes.
